3-Step Measuring Guide

Measure your window opening in minutes for a precision, light-sealing fit with Vault Blackout Blinds.

  • Steel Tape Measure

    For accurate measurement.

  • Pen & Paper

    To note each measurement.

Step 1 : Check Your Recess Depth

Minimum depth: 1.18 inches (3 cm)

Before measuring your window’s width and height, first check that the recess is deep enough for your Vault Blackout Blinds to fit securely inside. You’ll need at least 1.18 inches (3 cm) of clear, unobstructed depth.

Watch for obstructions

If your window has a handle, latch, or any part that extends into the recess, make sure there’s still at least 1.18 inches (3 cm) of free depth in front of it for a proper fit.

Step 2 : Measure the Width

Because most windows aren’t perfectly square, measure the width of your window recess in three places :

  • Top
  • Middle
  • Bottom

Write down all three readings and use the smallest measurement when ordering. This ensures your Vault Blackout Blinds fit snugly at the narrowest point of your window.

Step 3 : Measure the Height

Next, measure the height of your window recess in three spots :

  • Left
  • Center
  • Right

As with the width, note all three readings and use the smallest measurement to ensure a precise, light-sealing fit for your Vault Blackout Blinds.

Final Tips for Accurate Measurement

To guarantee a perfect, light-sealing fit for your Vault Blackout Blinds:

  1. Measure straight.
Keep the tape level and tight. No bending, no angles. Even a small tilt can alter the result.

  2. Round precisely.
Record your measurements to the nearest ¹⁄₁₆ inch or millimeter (mm) for the most accurate fit.

  3. Provide exact sizes.
Enter your real window measurements as they are. Our team will make all necessary manufacturing adjustments for a flawless inside mount.
